About RGS - Explore Grants for Overseas Expeditions
The RGS Explore Grants are funding opportunities offered by the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) to support teams carrying out challenging overseas expeditions and independent geographical research.The programme is the successor to the Society’s previous Geographical Fieldwork Grants and is designed particularly for emerging explorers and researchers planning their first international field projects.

- Grant Amount: £500 to £5,000
RGS - Explore Grants for Overseas Expeditions Requirements
- Minimum of three team members, all of whom must be aged 18 or over at the time of application.
- The team leader must be a UK-resident.
- Team members should have appropriate expertise for the topics to be investigated and demonstrate a sound understanding of expedition planning.
- Team members do not need to be a member of the Society to apply.
