About Sasol Foundation Bursary Programme

The scarcity of talent in South Africa and globally makes it essential for Sasol to ensure continuous availability of skills.  To date Sasol has various programmes that enable the development of scholars and graduates.

Benefits of Sasol Foundation Bursary Programme

  • Full financial support: tuition fees, registration, exam fees, prescribed books, accommodation, meals, and a monthly stipend.

Post-study benefits

  • Graduate Development Programme: 36-month structured training for engineers/scientists.
  • Technician Development Programme: mentorship, competency-based assessments, and support for professional registration.
  • Employment opportunities: some bursaries (e.g., Mining) include work-back obligations, meaning guaranteed job placement after graduation.

Sasol Foundation Bursary Programme Requirements

All applicants will undergo screening based on the following criteria: 

  • Must have completed matric within a year from the time of submitting an application or currently completing matric this year if applying for 1st year of degree studies.
  • Must be South African citizenship (by birth only).
  • Household income verifications.
  • Non-STEM bursaries are reserved only for qualifying children of Sasol employees, Khanyisa/Inzalo shareholders or candidates from Sasol fence-line communities.
  • Academic performance of the applicants.
  • Combined household income must not exceed R800,000.00 per annum. The final selection will prioritise financially needy and academically competitive candidates.
  • Student must be doing their first undergraduate degree.
  • University students applying for 2nd / 3rd / 4th year of studies must have an average of 60% for all modules.
  • Must not be older than 25 years of age, at the time of the bursary application.
