About SOKENDAI KEK Tsukuba/J-PARC Summer Student Program

This Sokendai KEK Summer Student Program 2026 allows students to participate in a research program under the guidance of experienced faculty members at KEK campuses. KEK is one of the leading research laboratories in Japan. It has two campuses located in Tsukuba and Tokai. KEK conducts advanced research on elementary particles, nuclear physics, materials, life sciences, and accelerator science. During the international summer program in Japan, students will join different research groups either at the Tsukuba campus or at J-PARC.

Benefits of SOKENDAI KEK Tsukuba/J-PARC Summer Student Program

  • First, the fully funded Japanese Summer program covers airfare costs for international students, including flights to and from their home country to Japan. 
  • Next, the KEK Summer Student Program provides free accommodation for all selected participants. 
  • In addition, the program offers a daily allowance of 1,500 yen to support living expenses in Japan. 
  • Moreover, the program covers domestic travel costs, including transportation between Narita or Haneda Airport and the KEK campuses. 
  • However, the Sokendai KEK Summer Student Program 2026 does not cover visa and insurance costs. 
  • Lastly, participants gain an excellent opportunity to experience Japanese culture, join a summer research program, and conduct research in Japan. 

SOKENDAI KEK Tsukuba/J-PARC Summer Student Program Requirements

  • Both international and Japanese students can apply for this fully funded Japanese Student Program. 
  • Moreover, applicants must be undergraduate or master’s degree students. 
  • In addition, students should have relevant academic field knowledge. 
  • Furthermore, IELTS is not required for this summer research program in Japan. 
  • Lastly, there is no application fee to apply for the KEK Summer Student Program.
