About Tech Policy Press Fellowship

Tech Policy Press Fellowship 2027 applications are open for 2027 and the program supports mid-career journalists, researchers, and public policy professionals to pursue independent reporting and analysis on technology and democracy. The Tech Policy Fellowship provides a $10,000 stipend, editorial guidance, monthly cohort sessions, and remote, part-time fellowship structure to develop substantial public-interest work.

The fellowship is offered by Tech Policy Press, which since launching its fellowship in 2023 has supported multiple cohorts of fellows producing reporting and policy analysis on topics like AI governance, tech regulation, and digital rights. Tech Policy Press publishes fellows’ work on its website, features it in its newsletter, and promotes projects via podcast and events.

Tech Policy Press Fellowship Requirements

  • Open to mid-career journalists, researchers, lawyers, and public policy professionals interested in technology and democracy.
  • Applicants should have a strong background or expertise in a specific tech policy area, issue, or geography.
  • We encourage applicants from the Global Majority and underrepresented communities in media.
  • Candidates should have a demonstrated interest or background in tech policy, media, or related fields and be committed to producing high-quality, public-interest work.
  • All fellows will work remotely as independent contractors.

Application Date and Process

  • Complete the application form by 11:59 p.m. EDT on September 24th, 2026 using the provided Airtable form.
  • Submit a curriculum vitae (CV) or resume.
  • Submit a cover letter (no more than two pages) conveying what you hope to accomplish.
  • Provide links to prior publications.
  • Provide two professional references.
  • Register for one of the two information sessions via the provided Zoom registration links if you wish to attend.
