About The Durfee Foundation - Stanton Fellowship
The Stanton Fellowship allows leaders to test a hunch, pursue an inquiry, and leverage their knowledge and contacts. They seek curious, creative thinkers and doers with deep knowledge of their field and strong connections across communities and sectors. Fellows are people who are well-positioned to identify and make headway on a big question facing Los Angeles County.
Benefits of The Durfee Foundation - Stanton Fellowship
- Fellows will receive up to 2 years of support and $100,000 to solve the most complex challenges in LA — dealing with air pollution, housing the homeless, increasing school graduation rates, or promoting job growth in the creative industries.
The Durfee Foundation - Stanton Fellowship Requirements
Individual candidates for this program should:
- Be a resident of Los Angeles County
- Be working in Los Angeles County
- Be an established leader with at least 10 years of demonstrated impact in the nonprofit sector, government, or as an artist, movement leader, or social entrepreneur. The fellowship provides supplemental funding and cannot serve as the recipient’s sole source of income.
- Be in a position to influence peers, policymakers, and/or the general public
- Present a clearly articulated proposal to work on a big question over a two-year period
- Need financial assistance to underwrite the project
- Desire to participate in a cross-disciplinary network of leaders
- Commit to participating in an overnight orientation, overnight culmination, and six day-long meetings over two years
- Develop a plan for devoting a minimum of three months over the two-year fellowship period to the project, in increments of no less than two weeks at a time
- Not currently having institutional or academic support for this type of inquiry
- Not have received a Durfee Sabbatical within the last five years
