Successful fellows receive comprehensive financial and academic support.

Financial Support

Each fellow receives:

  • USD 5,200 per month throughout the fellowship period.

  • A one-time relocation allowance of up to USD 1,800.

Accommodation Support

Where available, fellows may receive:

  • A rent-free apartment provided by the Centre (utility charges apply).

If university housing is unavailable:

  • A housing subsidy is provided to help offset rental costs in Florence.

Harvard University Center for Italian Renaissance Studies (I Tatti) - Craig Hugh Smyth Fellowship for Curators and Conservators Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be curators or conservators.
  • Be employed by an educational or cultural institution.
  • Propose an original research project or institutional research initiative.
  • Conduct research that can primarily be completed in Florence.
  • Demonstrate a good command of English.
  • Have familiarity with Italian.

Priority is given to:

  • Early-career scholars.
  • Mid-career scholars.
  • Researchers without regular access to research resources in Italy.
  • Applicants who have not previously held appointments at I Tatti (except former Graduate Fellows).
