The International Labour Organization (ILO) has launched a Call for Proposals to support community-based interventions that address child labour in Kenya’s tea industry.The programme seeks to strengthen the wellbeing of tea farming communities by improving social protection, workplace safety, livelihoods, and employment opportunities for young people while reducing the factors that contribute to child labour

- The ILO seeks to work with organisations that can support and strengthen actors in the tea value chain, enabling them to implement effective, community-level interventions to prevent child labour and promote safe and decent work.
The International Labour Organization (ILO) - Prevent and Eliminate Child Labour in the Tea Sector Requirements
This Call for Proposals is open to organisations that:
- Operate within the tea value chains
- Are legally registered in Kenya
- Have active operations in Kisii, Kericho, Meru, or Nyeri counties
- Demonstrate capacity to implement community-based programmes related to social protection, OSH, livelihoods, and/or youth employment.
Application Date and Process
- Organisations should follow these instructions when submitting applications:
- Prepare a Full Proposal, budget, and all relevant supporting documents.
- All submissions must be typed in English; handwritten applications will not be accepted.
- Ensure the proposal includes all necessary project details, as major errors or discrepancies may lead to disqualification.
- Submit applications via email only to: [email protected] , accompanied by the Checklist and Declaration.
- Applicants must be a organisations, duly registered under Kenyan law.
