About ICANN Fellowship Program
The ICANN Fellowship Scholarship 2026 in Portugal offers individuals from underserved and underrepresented communities the opportunity to strengthen their participation in the multi stakeholder model of internet governance. Fellows receive travel assistance to attend an ICANN Public Meeting, are paired with a mentor, and gain training in policy development, domain name system operations, and internet security and stability. The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is a global multistakeholder organization that coordinates the Internet’s unique identifier systems. Through its Fellowship Program, ICANN aims to build capacity and foster diverse global representation in key internet governance discussions, equipping participants with the skills and networks needed to contribute meaningfully to the future of the internet.

ICANN Fellowship Program Requirements
- Open to candidates from all regions and sectors
- Minimum age of 21 years
- Interest or engagement in ICANN’s work in policy building, DNS operation, and internet security
- Completion of mandatory ICANN Learn courses
- Not involved in other ICANN-supported travel programs at time of selection
- Policy Forum applicants must be ICANN Fellowship alumni
- Maximum of two previous fellowships; returning fellows must demonstrate community engagement
- Returning fellows may be considered for Tarek Kamel Fellowship Recognition
- Africa-based technical fellows may be eligible for Paul Muchene Fellow Award
Application Date and Process
- Create an ICANN Account
- Visit the ICANN Fellowship application page during an open round
- Complete and submit the online application form before the deadline (currently 21 August 2026 for ICANN88)
- Ensure all required ICANN Learn courses are completed
