About The National GEM Consortium - GEM Fellowship Program
The GEM Fellowship Program 2026 in USA is a fully funded fellowship for US citizens and permanent residents pursuing master’s or PhD degrees in STEM fields. This international fellowship provides financial support, paid summer internships, and mentorship to underrepresented students, helping them excel in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The GEM Fellowship is administered by the National GEM Consortium, which partners with top universities and leading science and engineering firms across the United States. Benefits of The National GEM Consortium - GEM Fellowship Program
- Employer Fellows will receive a minimum total stipend of $16,000 during the entire master’s program according to the University Support Agreement.
- GEM employer fellows will also get two paid summer internships with a GEM Employer Member.
- Fellows will get full tuition and fees that a GEM University Member will provide.
- All university fellows will get full tuition and fees provided by the GEM Member University.
- All GEM associate fellows will receive full tuition and fees from the GEM Member University.
- Master fellows will get at least a $8,000 stipend per year for a master’s degree provided by the GEM Member University.
- PhD fellows will get at least a $16,000 stipend per year for a full PhD degree provided by the GEM Member University.
- All the employer fellows will get a $16,000 total stipend per academic year.
- Fellows will also get additional stipends (grants, assistantships, other stipend dollars) provided by GEM Member University to make the amount up to the level of other funded PhD programs.
- GEM employer fellows will also get one paid summer internship with a GEM Employer Member.
- Fellows will get full tuition and fees for up to five years of the PhD degree.
The National GEM Consortium - GEM Fellowship Program Requirements
- Applicants must be US permanent residents or US citizens at the time of application.
- Applicants are strongly encouraged to take the GRE to qualify for multiple GEM Member University programs, although it is not mandatory.
- Applicants must apply to at least three GEM Member Universities offering STEM graduate programs unless they qualify for the official waiver.
- Applicants currently enrolled in eligible 4+1 or Master’s/PhD programs at a GEM Member University may qualify for an exemption from the three-university application requirement.
- For master’s degree: Applicants must be a senior or graduate of an accredited engineering or computer science degree at the time of application.
- For master’s degree: Applicants must have a minimum CGPA of 2.8/4.0.
- For master’s degree: Applicants must contractually agree to be a part of an internship for two summers through the sponsor of GEM Employer.
- For PhD degree: Applicants must be a senior, graduate or master’s student of applied science of an accredited engineering program at the time of application.
- For PhD degree: Applicants must have a minimum CGPA of 3.0/4.0.
- For PhD degree: Applicants must contractually agree to do a summer internship with a GEM Employer member immediately after sponsorship.
