About The New York Academy of Sciences - Leon Levy Scholarships in Neuroscience
The Leon Levy Scholarships in Neuroscience (LLSN) program aims to promote groundbreaking neuroscience research in the five boroughs of New York City. The Scholarships support the most innovative young researchers at a critical stage of their careers—their postdoctoral research—as they develop the new ideas and directions that will help establish them as independent neuroscientists.

- Annual stipend at 125% of NIH postdoctoral rate.
- Fringe benefits at host institution’s rate.
- US$2,000 one-time technology/travel allowance.
- Up to US$10,000 annually for dependent care.
- Membership in the New York Academy of Sciences and structured mentorship program.
The New York Academy of Sciences - Leon Levy Scholarships in Neuroscience Requirements
- Must hold a doctoral degree (PhD, MD, DDS, DVM, etc.).
- Full-time postdoctoral position at an eligible NYC institution.
- No more than 3 years of postdoctoral experience (degree dated after Sept 1, 2024).
- Research must be in neuroscience or related sub-disciplines.
- Open to U.S. citizens, permanent residents, certain visa holders, refugees, and asylees.
- Institutions must be accredited non-profits in NYC conducting neuroscience research.
- Past recipients of Leon Levy Fellowships are not eligible
