Opportunity Details
The Treasury Summer Internship Program is a junior professional training program designed to develop the skills necessary for an exciting and rewarding career in the financial industry. The Program aims to bring exceptional college students with a demonstrated interest in a financial career to support the World Bank’s development mandate. The internship lays the foundation to become a Junior Analyst, a two-year position on one Treasury team, immediately after the intern graduates from their degree program. Interns are expected to be in their second to final year in the equivalent of a four-year college degree program.
Since its inception, the Summer Internship Program has hosted over 70 students, an equal gender balance, over 30 nationalities, and US- and non-US-based students from every region of the world. Working with colleagues from over 60 countries in Treasury alone, interns on an individualized rotation learn from senior colleagues in a uniquely diverse workplace.
The Internship
Treasury Summer Interns will work full-time for ten weeks, from May 26 through August 3, 2026, in Washington, DC. The program begins with a customized onboarding week, after which interns rotate through three different Treasury teams in three-week intervals. Throughout the summer, interns engage in weekly discussions with the program director and attend technical and career-focused sessions with Treasury officers, managers, and directors. They also have access to the nearly 300-member Treasury team, including an opportunity to meet the Vice President & Treasurer. Each rotation concludes with a presentation to the respective team, and the internship culminates in a capstone project presented to the Treasury management team.
