Leadership pipelines in Africa often overlook emerging leaders who may not yet occupy senior roles but have high potential and impact aspirations. EMERGE launched by TheBoardroom Africa with support from the Mastercard Foundation is designed to close that gap. By combining professional development, leadership training, and direct access to career pathways, the program empowers participants to develop as authentic, effective leaders rooted in Africa’s reality.
Fully Funded: Thanks to Mastercard Foundation support, selected participants don’t bear the cost of the program.
Tailored to Africa: The design and tools (like the Leadership Compass) are made with African leadership contexts in mind.
Flexible Learning: The program includes digital / asynchronous components, so participants can learn while working.
Career Leverage: Access to a talent marketplace increases the chance to land meaningful leadership roles.
Growth Mindset: Through coaching and reflection, participants sharpen not just their skills but their leadership identity.
To apply for EMERGE 2026, you should:
Be an emerging leader in Africa: likely a young professional with 2-10 years of experience (though exact criteria may vary, check the official site).
Demonstrate leadership potential and commitment to long-term impact (in business, social change, governance, etc.).
Be ready to engage in the program (complete the Leadership Compass, participate in training).

Complete the Leadership Compass Assessment, which evaluates your leadership strengths and development areas.
Receive the Leadership Navigator Report, which gives personalized feedback and development guidance.
