Thompson Rivers University Diversity Award is an automatic tuition-credit award for new international undergraduate students from countries under-represented at Thompson Rivers University. The award is applied to eligible students’ tuition when they meet academic or language benchmarks and are admitted to full-time undergraduate programs.

- Can be combined with TRU’s other automatic entrance awards for high achievers: Academic Excellence Award (up to CAD 2,000 – CAD 1,000 per semester for 2 semesters, 86%+ average) and Exceptional Student Award (up to CAD 4,000 – CAD 1,000 per semester for up to 4 semesters, 80%+ average with direct entry)
- Eligible to apply for TRU’s Undergraduate Awards Application (International) every year by 30 September for further merit-based scholarships and awards
- Access to paid co-op work terms and up to 20 hours/week of off-campus work during studies, plus the Post-Graduation Work Permit route after graduation
Thompson Rivers University Diversity Award Requirements
- Be a new international student applying for admission to an undergraduate program at Thompson Rivers University
- Hold citizenship of a country that is under-represented on the TRU campus (five or fewer TRU students from that country)
- Meet one of the following academic/language benchmarks: a minimum 3.0 GPA (or equivalent), or IELTS 6.5 overall, or TOEFL iBT 88
- Meet TRU’s general admission requirements for the chosen program (secondary school completion with the required subjects and grades)
- Enrol full-time; awards are applied to tuition once the student is registered
