About Toronto Metropolitan University The StOries Project 2.0
The StOries of the World is an alternative writing and training project hosted by the Global Migration Institute. At the intersection of academic and creative genres, it is grounded in reflexive, participatory, and arts-based approaches, as well as autoethnographic methods. Throughout this initiative, participants will use creative and literary writing, as well as other forms of creative practice such as photography, and multimedia storytelling, to generate new insights about human mobility across borders.

If you are selected for The StOries Project 2.0 and successfully complete all stages, here is what your package includes:
- A $500 participation fee upon completion
- Individual mentoring by Alka Kumar throughout the writing process
- Publication of your final creative submissions in an edited Anthology

Toronto Metropolitan University The StOries Project 2.0 Requirements
To be eligible for The StOries Project 2.0, you must meet all of the following requirements:
Academic Requirements
- You must currently be a graduate student (Master’s or PhD) enrolled at a higher education institution anywhere in the world.
- Alternatively, you must have completed your graduate studies in the last 3 years prior to May 2026.
Residency & Experience
- You must currently live outside your country of birth.
- A strong background or interest in migration studies and exploring human mobility is highly preferred.
- Some experience or interest in creative writing, photography, drawing, or visual arts will be helpful.
