About UBC Graduate School - Affiliated Fellowships Doctoral Scholarship
The Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies offers approximately 50 Affiliated Fellowships each year to meritorious students for full-time study and/or research leading to a graduate degree.

- The Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies offers approximately 50 Affiliated Fellowships each year to meritorious students for full-time study and/or research leading to a graduate degree.
- Awards are made on the basis of academic excellence.
- Fellowship values range from $175 to $40,000, but most are in the range of $16,000.
UBC Graduate School - Affiliated Fellowships Doctoral Scholarship Requirements
- Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements of the Canada Graduate Research Scholarships – Doctoral competition in order to be considered for Affiliated Fellowships.
- Applications are open to current and prospective full-time UBC graduate students regardless of citizenship or visa status (Canadian, Permanent Resident, International).
- Applicants who plan to be registered in a master’s program in September 2027 should refer to Affiliated Fellowships Master’s Program.
- Priority will be given to eligible candidates who do not hold significant scholarship funding (i.e., $16,000 or higher) for the 2027/2028 academic year.
Application Date and Process
- All applicants for the Canada Graduate Research Scholarships – Doctoral competition will be automatically considered for Affiliated funding; no separate application is required.
- Review the list of criteria-based affiliated awards to determine if you meet any of these awards’ criteria.
- Check in your Affiliated Fellowship application the award numbers of any and all criteria-based affiliated awards for which you are eligible.
- Submit your completed checklist of criteria-based affiliated awards to your graduate program before the application deadline of Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at 12:00PM PT.
- Graduate programs rank applicants and forward nominations to the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies; nominations for doctoral-level funding must be submitted by graduate programs by 4:00 pm PT on Tuesday, 13 October 2026.
