About UChicago Applied Data Fellowship

The Applied Data Fellowship is an initiative that connects talented individuals with organizations working to create measurable social impact. Fellows spend 12 months supporting partner institutions through analytical, operational, and strategic projects that leverage data to improve decision-making and program effectiveness. The program combines practical work experience with professional development opportunities, enabling fellows to strengthen both technical and leadership skills while contributing to meaningful projects.

Benefits of UChicago Applied Data Fellowship

•  Fellows will be provided with a living stipend of $47,000 for the year and a separate reimbursable health insurance stipend up to $5,000. This amount is scaled up for placements in cities with a higher cost of living than Chicago.

UChicago Applied Data Fellowship Requirements

Applicants must be available for a full-time, 12-month commitment and meet the program’s work authorization requirements.

Eligible candidates include:

• U.S. citizens
• U.S. permanent residents (Green Card holders)
• International students who can utilize the full 12 months of Optional Practical Training (OPT)
• Individuals eligible through J-1 Academic Training authorization
