About UNEP FI Climate Adaptation Internship
The UNEP FI Climate Adaptation Internship 2026 offers students and recent graduates an opportunity to gain practical experience in sustainable finance, climate adaptation, and financial-sector resilience. Hosted by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the internship is based in Geneva, Switzerland, with remote work possible. The six-month position supports the Climate Adaptation and Resilience (A&R) programme, working with financial institutions to address climate-related risks.
The United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) is a strategic partnership between the UN and over 500 banks, insurers, and investors. It promotes sustainable finance and aligns financial sector activities with the Sustainable Development Goals. UNEP FI’s work includes flagship initiatives like the Principles for Responsible Banking Climate Journey and the Resilience Finance Mobilization pilot project.

UNEP FI Climate Adaptation Internship Requirements
- At the time of application, be enrolled in a graduate programme (second university degree or higher) or in the final year of a Bachelor’s degree, or have completed a university degree and begin the internship within one year of graduation
- Field of study closely related to the internship, such as economics, social sciences, natural sciences, environmental science, public policy, sustainable development, international relations, business administration, finance, or related disciplines
- Fluency in written and spoken English is required
- Knowledge of another United Nations official language is considered desirable
