About UNCDF Working Capital Grant for Financial Service Providers

The Working Capital Grant is part of UNCDF’s efforts to strengthen financial ecosystems in Pacific Small Island Developing States (SIDS).Pacific countries are highly exposed to climate change, natural disasters, and economic shocks. At the same time, the region has significant opportunities linked to its ocean economy, natural resources, renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, fisheries, tourism, and other climate-resilient industries.

Benefits of UNCDF Working Capital Grant for Financial Service Providers

  • Each selected financial service provider may receive a working capital grant of up to USD 150,000.

UNCDF Working Capital Grant for Financial Service Providers Requirements

The call is aimed at formally registered, licensed, and regulated financial service providers operating in the eligible Pacific countries.

Eligible institutions may include:

  • Banks
  • Microfinance institutions
  • Other qualifying regulated financial service providers

Applicants must meet the programme’s institutional and operational requirements.

Key Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be formally registered in an eligible country.
  • Be appropriately licensed and regulated as a financial service provider.
  • Operate in Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, or Vanuatu.
  • Have at least three years of experience financing MSMEs or SMEs.
  • Demonstrate the capacity to implement the proposed institutional improvements.
  • Show strategic commitment to financing blue, green, and climate-resilient sectors.
  • Demonstrate alignment with the programme’s priority areas.
  • Submit a complete and compliant Expression of Interest.
  • Comply with relevant UN requirements and restrictions.

Applicants must also not appear on applicable UN sanctions lists and must not engage in prohibited activities.
