About UNITAR Field Visits and Online Training Program
The Multilateral Diplomacy Programme (MDP) of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) maintains a traineeship programme for students/recent graduates interested in gaining professional experience in a multicultural environment and enhancing their understanding of the United Nations system. MDP develops and delivers training activities in close partnership with governments, universities and selected international organisations. MDP’s activities also include online training programmes; special projects, advisory services and the development of training tools and publications.

UNITAR Field Visits and Online Training Program Requirements
- The UN training program is open to students and recent graduates.
- Applicants must currently be enrolled in or have recently completed an undergraduate, graduate, or postgraduate program in international relations, history, law, political science, languages, or a related field. (If selected, candidates must begin the traineeship within two years of graduation.)
- Similarly, candidates should demonstrate a proactive attitude and the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Applicants should have strong organizational skills, particularly in time management, logistics and planning.
- They should have previous experience in coordinating field visits, guided tours, or similar activities.
- Trainees should also have familiarity with organizing and delivering online training sessions, webinars, or related events.
- Moreover, applicants should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a strong understanding of the United Nations system and global affairs.
- Expertise in digital marketing and social media platforms will be an advantage.
- To be eligible for the UNITAR training 2026, proficiency in spoken and written English is essential. Knowledge of Mandarin Chinese will be a plus.
