About University of Arizona CLIMAS Environment & Society Graduate Fellows Program
The Environment & Society Fellowship was created in 2013 as a funding opportunity for graduate students to practice use-inspired, collaborative research and science communication. The Fellowship supports projects that connect social or physical sciences with the environment and decision-making. Projects must address research and information needs voiced by the students’ project partners. The Fellowship is funded and supported by CLIMAS, the University of Arizona Office of Research, Innovation, & Impact, and the Arizona Institute for Resilience.
Benefits of University of Arizona CLIMAS Environment & Society Graduate Fellows Program
- Up to four fellowships in the amount of $5,000 each are awarded annually.
University of Arizona CLIMAS Environment & Society Graduate Fellows Program Requirements
- A degree-seeking graduate student from any department at the University of Arizona
- Making good progress toward their degree, enrolled in spring semester 2026, and able to continue with the Fellowship through May 2027
- Involved in research that incorporates environmental and societal issues

- A proposed timeline outlining your project goals between May 2026 - May 2027
- An up-to-date curriculum vitae
- One letter of support from your graduate advisor that endorses your application and demonstrates that they understand the collaborative nature of your proposed project.
