The Four Year Doctoral Fellowship (4YF) program will ensure UBC's best PhD, DMA, and MDPhD students are provided with financial support of at least $18,200 per year plus tuition for up to four years of their doctoral studies. - Usually, students are offered the Four-Year Fellowships in their first year of full-time DMA, PhD or MD-PhD degrees or continuing students.
- However, the university may provide less funding in some situations.
- Applicants must have an excellent academic record and must maintain their record to continue the UBC 4YF program.
- Moreover, students getting any of the following Tri-agency awards will become designees of the Four-Year Fellowship program:

- Vanier Scholarships
