About University of Otago - Barusch Scholarship in Ageing Studies
The Barusch Scholarship in Ageing Studies is a $7,000 award established in 2025 at the University of Otago to encourage ageing-themed research projects within the Division of Humanities. The scholarship aims to build theoretical and practical understanding of older adults and the ageing process, potentially pointing towards new policies and programmes.
The University of Otago, through a generous donation from Emeritus Professor Amanda Barusch, a senior academic from the School of Social Sciences with extensive research and teaching experience in gerontology, established this award. The scholarship supports students enrolled in Master’s or PhD degrees featuring research with a primary focus on gerontology and human ageing.
