About University of Porto Criminology Scholarship
The University of Porto Criminology Scholarship 2026-2028 in Portugal offers Master’s students a research position at the Faculty of Law’s Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Justice. It supports work on the project “Predatory publishing practices: Paper tigers or actual threats from evaluation systems?” funded by the Volkswagen Foundation.
The Faculty of Law, University of Porto (FDUP) hosts this research scholarship at CIJ – Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Justice. The faculty is a leading Portuguese institution for legal and criminological studies, and the project examines evaluation systems and publishing practices through qualitative research.

University of Porto Criminology Scholarship Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Criminology
- Be enrolled in a Master’s program in Criminology with proof required at contracting
- If the degree was obtained abroad, provide Portuguese recognition of the academic degree
- Preferred: experience in scientific research
- Preferred: experience conducting semi-structured interviews and analyzing qualitative data
- Preferred: advanced English proficiency
- Preferred: teamwork experience
