- For Cusanuswerk: Catholic confession, lived Christian faith and willingness to participate in shaping the Church; outstanding academic performance and interdisciplinary interest; German citizenship or eligibility under § 8 BAföG; proficiency in German at least at level C1.
- For some foundations: applicants without German citizenship must demonstrate proficiency in German at level C1 where required.
