University of Toronto Schmidt Postdoc Fellowship Requirements
- Demonstrated leadership in research and academic performance
- Significant chance of success in specific fields
- Strong collaboration between candidate, supervisor(s), and academic research environment
- Possibility of effectively applying AI research techniques
- Fulfillment of doctoral degree requirements by January 1, 2023, at the latest (for some categories)
- International applicants must finish their PhD before the start date; Canadian citizens and permanent residents must finish within six months of starting
- Cannot hold another postdoctoral fellowship concurrently with this award
- Degree in natural sciences or engineering (NSE) fields, including mathematics or computer science
- Full-time appointment at the University of Toronto; must have a co-supervisor with AI experience if primary supervisor is new to AI

- Prepare all required documents: application form, research proposal (3 pages), bibliography (1 page), AI in Science training plan (1 page), candidate statement (2 pages), significance of leadership contributions (1 page), CV, two confidential letters of reference (2 pages each), and supervision letter.
