About WFSA Paediatric Anaesthesia Fellowship

The fellowship is designed to strengthen clinical expertise in paediatric anaesthesia through a combination of hands-on training and academic learning. Fellows will primarily be based at Kenyatta National Hospital and will rotate through partner hospitals with active paediatric surgical programmes.

Benefits of WFSA Paediatric Anaesthesia Fellowship

The fellowship offers financial support, which may include:

• Tuition fees
• Accommodation
• Subsistence living expenses

However, applicants should note that full funding is not guaranteed in all cases, and some costs may need to be covered independently.

WFSA Paediatric Anaesthesia Fellowship Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Be a qualified physician anaesthesiologist
• Be registered as a medical practitioner in their home country
• Be eligible for registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council
• Be supported by:
  • Their national anaesthesiology society (a WFSA member society)
  • Their Head of Department or hospital management
• Demonstrate intention to return to a recognized post in their home country

Preference will be given to:

• Early-career anaesthesiologists
• Candidates currently working in Kenya, Central, or Eastern Africa

However, experienced professionals and applicants from other African countries are also encouraged to apply.

Application Date and Process

In order to apply, please head to our online application platform to register/login. Under ‘WFSA Fellowships’ select ‘Start Application’. Select Chapter ‘Fellowships’ and Category ‘Nairobi Paediatric Anaesthesia Fellowship 2026/27’.

The deadline for applications is the 31 May 2026. Complete your application form and upload the following documents.

• Curriculum vitae with one recent photo and the names of two referees
• Letter of recommendation from the applicant’s national anaesthesiology society
• Letter of recommendation from the applicant’s head of department or hospital management
• Copy of medical degree
• Copy of specialist anaesthesiology qualification
• Copy of photograph page of Passport
