About Yale University Dorrit Hoffleit Summer Fellowship

The Dorrit Hoffleit Summer Fellowship is an 8-week research program that takes place during June and July 2026. Selected students for this program will be working closely with Yale faculty members on real research projects while living on Yale’s campus in the United States.

  • Fellows will receive a weekly stipend of $450, paid bi-weekly, throughout this eight-week fellowship program.
  • Moreover, Yale University will offer free on-campus accommodation to all fellows.
  • In addition, a meal plan providing 15 meals per week will fully support students during the program.
  • Furthermore, participants will receive travel reimbursement of up to $1,000, helping them cover travel expenses to and from the USA.

Yale University Dorrit Hoffleit Summer Fellowship Requirements

  • This fully funded program in the USA is open to students of all nationalities and gives talented undergraduates from around the world the chance to gain international research experience.
  • To apply for the Dorrit Hoffleit Summer Fellowship at Yale University, you must be an undergraduate student majoring in Astronomy, Astrophysics, or Physics, with a strong foundation in science and mathematics.
  • Typically, fellows in their second or third year of study with a good academic record can apply for the undergraduate astronomy research fellowship.
  • In addition, you must show a genuine interest in research and graduate studies, along with clear motivation to build a career in astronomy or related fields.
  • Furthermore, fellows must commit to the full 8-week program and actively participate in research projects, seminars, and campus activities.
  • Finally, proficiency in English is required, as all mentoring, workshops, and research discussions take place in English.
