About AGNES Intra-Africa Mobility Grants for Junior Researchers

The AGNES Intra-Africa Mobility Grant is designed to support doctoral candidates from sub-Saharan Africa who need to undertake short-term research at an institution in another sub-Saharan African country.The programme promotes scientific collaboration between emerging scholars and experienced researchers. It also helps doctoral candidates gain access to international research networks, specialized resources, and research expertise that may not be available at their home institutions.

Benefits of AGNES Intra-Africa Mobility Grants for Junior Researchers

  • 1 Month: up to EUR 2,300
  • 1.5 Months: up to EUR 2,650
  • 2 Months: up to EUR 3,000

AGNES Intra-Africa Mobility Grants for Junior Researchers Requirements

Applicants must meet the programme’s eligibility requirements.

Eligible candidates must:

  • Be nationals of a sub-Saharan African country.
  • Be officially registered for a doctoral degree at a university or tertiary research institute in sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Have published at least one article based on their thesis research.
  • Have the article published in a non-predatory journal indexed by SCOPUS or Web of Science.
  • Have an identified scientific host at the proposed host institution.
  • Have a mutually agreed research proposal with the host.
  • Have an agreed research work schedule with the host institution.
  • Demonstrate that the research stay is directly relevant to their doctoral work.
  • Show that the proposed research activities cannot be conducted in their country of residence.
  • Demonstrate the relevance of their research to the development of their home country.
