Asia Pacific Forum on Women, Law and Development (APWLD) is currently inviting WOMEN in all their diversities, including those belonging to minority and marginalised groups from Asia and the Pacific countries with relevant experience and skills to apply as  Intern for the Migration (Migrants United and Act for Human Rights) Programme.

The selected Intern will be expected to work remotely from their home country for a minimum period of six (6) months. The duration may be extended upon mutual agreement. Monthly stipend will be provided to the intern and they will be expected to start as early as July 2025. Intern will work closely with the Migrants United and Act for Human Rights (MUAH) Programme team, Programme Organising Committee members and wider APWLD Secretariat members. 

Migration Programme (Migrants United and Act for Human Rights – MUAH) aims to ensure women migrants enjoy human rights and are able to make informed and choices about migration. The Migration Programme focuses on increasing capacities, voices and leadership of women migrants by conducting feminist organising training, Feminist Participatory Action Research (FPAR), strategic advocacy and supporting networks for collective migrants movement building.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Attend regular meetings and maintain regular communication with the Migration Programme team.
  • Support the Migration  Programme team in logistics and coordination for activities, training and meetings planned for the duration of the internship.
  • Substantively support data collection, analysis and writing that is required for the Migration programme. 
  • Provide logistics and coordination assistance to the Migration programme team by supporting in organising meetings, providing documentation support by taking notes, transcribing and categorising online documents, scheduling meeting invites and providing online technical support during online meetings. 

Benefits of APWLD Migration Programme Internship

The intern will receive a stipend of 330 USD per month for the duration of the internship. No additional benefits will be provided. 

APWLD Migration Programme Internship Requirements

  • This internship is suitable for students and young professionals with a background in and/or interest to work with and be involved in women’s human rights issues on a regional level. The role is also suitable for those who wish to gain a conceptual understanding of how women’s human rights issues intersect with different forms of oppression specifically in Asia and the Pacific. 
  • Applicants who have obtained or are currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree in law, gender studies, social sciences, or a related field; and activists or development practitioners with a background and involvement in human rights and/or women’s movements, are both eligible to apply.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. The intern is required to have  strong communication skills and should be able to handle coordination and communication with various people.
  • Demonstrable ability to work within a diverse, multicultural team in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Proven ability to flexibly adapt to changes in real time, and prioritise and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously. 
  • Knowledge and/or experience with event organisation or logistics is an asset. 
  • Experience in working with women’s rights organisations, migrant’s rights/migrants-led organisations and movements, in both a professional and voluntary capacity is an asset.
  • Must be able to commit to taking up an internship for six (6) months. 
  • We prefer the intern to be based in Asia and the Pacific Region.
