About Breakthrough Junior Challenge 2024
The Breakthrough Junior Challenge is an annual competition for children from all over the world designed to spark their interest in science.
International students between the ages of 13 and 18 are requested to create and submit original videos that concisely communicate a topic or idea.
- Biological science,
- Physics,
- Maths.
The maximum duration for the videos is two minutes. The student’s ability to present difficult scientific concepts in an interesting, educational, and creative manner is what determines how well the entries are rated.
Your movie might be animated, feature talking heads, a documentary, a theatrical reconstruction, or anything else. Remember that video is a dynamic visual medium; therefore, employing illustrations, computer simulations, real-world examples, etc. is much more successful than lecturing in front of a whiteboard.

In the event that your film is selected as the Winner, you will receive:
- $250,000 Post-secondary scholarship
- $50,000 Prize for your teacher
- $100,000 Breakthrough Science Lab
Breakthrough Junior Challenge 2024 Requirments
- Participants must be between the ages of 13 and 18.
- If you are underage, you must obtain permission from your parent or legal guardian to enter. In addition, your parent or legal guardian must attest to your eligibility to participate in the competition and agree to abide by the rules on your behalf as well as their own. You are not eligible to enter the contest if you live in any nation or area that is under complete economic sanctions imposed by the United States or if you are any other person with whom U.S. individuals are prohibited from transacting under U.S. law.
- Individuals are the only ones permitted to enter; businesses and commercial entities are not. Submissions from groups are not accepted. It is not permitted for any member of the Evaluation Panel, Selection Committee, Competition Sponsor, donor, director, officer, employee, contractor, or family member of any of the aforementioned to participate the Competition.
- Submissions made in connection with the Competition will only be accepted if: (i) they are in English, including all voiceovers and scripts; (ii) they do not, in the sole discretion of the Competition Sponsor, contain any content that is unlawful (including any infringement or potential infringement of Intellectual Property Rights), hateful, or obscene; and (iii) they do not include any identifiable images of people other than the individual participant unless the individual has given their express consent in advance or the images are in the public domain.
- You must be the only one who creates or provides the Content for the Competition.
- By sending in Your Entry, You guarantee and declare that You have the authority to grant the Competition Sponsor a perpetual, irreversible, sublicensable, royalty-free right and license, and that You do so now.
- The Competition Sponsor shall not be obliged to treat Your Entry or any Content as confidential. Without obtaining consent or payment from You or any other party, the Competition Sponsor shall be free to use Your Entry and the Content for any purpose.

Application Procedure:
- Filling out the registration form is the first step in participating in The Breakthrough Junior Challenge. Click on the link to the application website to access the form.
- The second prerequisite entails completing all of the application’s questions (which is referred to as the “Application”) and uploading your video (also known as “submitting”).
- The Challenge also has a third criteria, which is finishing the peer-to-peer review. Peer-to-Peer has further details. The Challenge will only accept submissions that meet ALL three (3) conditions.
