About AESP Cohort

The African Economic Scholars Program (AESP) is an initiative tailored towards building the next generation of policy makers in Africa by exposing them to avid tools and training.

Benefits of AESP Cohort

Top-performing scholars may be selected for a competitive two-month internship with partner organizations, including leading think tanks. This phase provides practical exposure to policy development, advocacy, and research implementation.

During the internship, scholars will:

  • Gain hands-on experience in policy research environments
  • Work alongside industry professionals and policy experts
  • Contribute to ongoing projects and policy discussions
  • Strengthen their professional networks within the development sector

This opportunity serves as a critical stepping stone for participants aiming to build careers in policy-making, governance, and international development.

AESP Cohort Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Have demonstrated interest in policy, research, and development. 
  • Have studied or is studying Economics, Political Science, International Relations or other related courses. 
  • Be a final year student or a recent graduate from Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya or South Africa. 
  • Not have graduated before 2025 
  • Have graduated or is set to graduate with a first class or second-class upper.
