About CBRL Project Grant Program

CBRL offers Project Grant opportunities for research in and on the Levant in the humanities, social sciences and related fields. We particularly encourage applications addressing topics relating to one or more of our five current major research themes, and those which address regions and research not traditionally associated with CBRL’s activities.  

Benefits of CBRL Project Grant Program

  • Maximum award: £7,000

  • Eligible costs: travel, maintenance, consumables, specialist staff, interpreter fees, scientific analyses, illustration, transcription, translation

  • Ineligible costs: computer hardware, institutional overheads, publication, salary replacements, teaching substitution

CBRL Project Grant Program Requirements

  • Principal Investigator must be employed by a UK university or heritage institution

  • Must demonstrate feasibility considering regional socio-political context

  • Requires risk assessment, ethics approval, and data management planning

  • International travel must be approved by host institution

  • CBRL does not assist with visas or permits
