The Council for British Research in the Levant (CBRL) is now accepting applications for its Project Grant Program 2026 . Interested candidates are urged to click here to learn more about this opportunity and to apply.
CBRL offers Project Grant opportunities for research in and on the Levant in the humanities, social sciences and related fields. We particularly encourage applications addressing topics relating to one or more of our five current major research themes, and those which address regions and research not traditionally associated with CBRL’s activities.
Maximum award: £7,000
Eligible costs: travel, maintenance, consumables, specialist staff, interpreter fees, scientific analyses, illustration, transcription, translation
Ineligible costs: computer hardware, institutional overheads, publication, salary replacements, teaching substitution
Principal Investigator must be employed by a UK university or heritage institution
Must demonstrate feasibility considering regional socio-political context
Requires risk assessment, ethics approval, and data management planning
International travel must be approved by host institution
CBRL does not assist with visas or permits
