About FASPE Journalism Fellowship
Opportunity Details
FASPE Journalism Fellows examine the motivations and conduct of German and international journalists in promoting or misreporting Nazi policies. FASPE then draws on these historical examples to help Journalism Fellows grasp their role and responsibility as individuals with influence in their communities; and to encourage them to identify and confront the ethical issues currently facing journalists and media institutions at large.

FASPE is committed to covering all program costs and related travel to ensure financial ability does not limit participation. The fellowship covers the following expenses:
- Round-trip economy airfare from the United States to Europe.
- Transportation costs for group travel and activities in Germany and Poland are covered.
- All entrance charges.
- Everything in the program.
- All hotel expenses.
- The cost of all group meals.
- Money to cover non-group meals.
FASPE Journalism Fellowship Requirements
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Graduate students or early-career professionals in the formative stages of their careers
- Applicants with ≤10 years of professional journalism experience
- Journalism applicants must fit one of the following:
- Some journalism experience + currently enrolled in a graduate program and planning a journalism career
- Completed an undergraduate degree and am working as a journalist
- Completed a graduate degree and am working as a journalist
- Preference for applicants with published or aired work in recognized news outlets
- Open to diverse journalism roles: reporters, editors, photojournalists, documentarians, or other storytellers
- Fellows should be open-minded, self-reflective, and capable of leadership in their field
- Must demonstrate academic strength, professional potential, and willingness to engage in respectful discussions
