About Rise Up Together - Leadership & Advocacy Program in Kenya

Global nonprofit Rise Up Together will select a group of 25 local civil society leaders from Kenya to participate in our Leadership and Advocacy Accelerator training program to advance gender equity and justice from November 2-7, 2026. 

The 2026 Kenya cohort will have a particular focus on advancing gender equity in education and supporting local leaders working to improve educational opportunities and outcomes in their communities. 

Benefits of Rise Up Together - Leadership & Advocacy Program in Kenya

Eligible candidates must meet the following selection criteria:

  • Civil Society leaders who are at least 18 years of age at the time of the training in November 2026.

     

  • Currently works in Kajiado, Narok, Machakos, Makueni, Kiambu, and/or Nairobi Counties.
  • Has a personal interest and current commitment to promoting gender equity broadly in the four priority areas of health, education, economic opportunity, and climate solutions for women, girls, and gender-nonconforming people. While leaders working across all four issue areas are encouraged to apply, this cohort will place particular emphasis on education-focused advocacy and leadership, reflecting a strategic priority within the program.

     

  • Represents or works closely with marginalized groups from socially or economically marginalized communities, women and girls with disabilities, ethnic and/or religious minorities, and/or other historically disadvantaged populations.
  • Ability to participate in an in-person training from November 2-7, 2026, with some virtual sessions pre- and post-workshop. Please note that Rise Up Together will cover all costs related to program participation, including transportation, lodging, food, and materials.
  • Currently works at a non-profit organization, civil society organization, media organization, or government organization at a level of coordination or management and has some level of decision-making power.
  • Has the support of their organization’s leadership to participate in Rise Up Together’s Leadership and Advocacy Accelerator training.
  • To be eligible for a grant, Rise Up Together requires organizations to be legally registered in-country and set up to receive international funds. Entities that are not registered can be sponsored by another financial entity or fiscal sponsor. Note: Government organizations are not eligible to receive grants through this program.
  • Proficient in oral and written English.
