Opportunity Details
The African Poetry Book Series is made possible through the generosity of late philanthropists Laura and Robert F. X. Sillerman, whose essential contributions have facilitated the establishment of the APBF. In recognition of their invaluable support of our work, Mr. and Mrs. Sillerman had welcomed the use of their name for the First Book Prize for African Poets.

Only English-language poetry is accepted (translations allowed; translator shares prize).
First book only: no prior full-length poetry publications, including self-published works sold publicly.
Editors of anthologies are still eligible.
Excludes employees or affiliates of the University of Nebraska Press, Akashic Books, Amalion Press, and Brown University.
