About Caltech SURF Internship
Caltech SURF is a fully funded 10-week summer research internship for undergraduate students at the California Institute of Technology, offering a stipend and coverage of travel, accommodation, meals and visa costs. The program starts in mid-June and has a deadline of 22nd February 2027.
The program is hosted by the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and includes weekly seminars by Caltech faculty and JPL scientists, academic and professional development activities, and opportunities to work with a faculty mentor on a research project.

Caltech SURF Internship Requirements
- Open to U.S. citizens and international students from outside the USA
- Only undergraduate students can apply
- Applicants must have a strong academic record
- Applicants must have a genuine interest in the specified area of research
- Have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0
- High school students are not eligible
- Mentors have to bear the full cost of the award for international students (as stated)
