The Forest Governance Story Grants 2025, an initiative by the Earth Journalism Network (EJN) is a grant program for journalists to produce in-depth stories on forest governance.The goal is to highlight challenges and opportunities in managing forests, especially in relation to climate change, biodiversity loss, poverty, and inequality.
Open to journalists worldwide, especially from Cameroon, Liberia, Ghana, Vietnam, Indonesia.
Also open to journalists in UK, EU, China, India, Japan reporting on international forest governance.
Groups of journalists can apply (one lead applicant required).
Applications must be in English.
Open to freelancers, staff reporters, early-career and experienced journalists across all media formats.
Transparency required if using generative AI tools in proposals.

All applicants are required to provide a signed letter of support from their editor, explicitly stating that the media outlet will publish the stories produced as a result of this grant.
Applicants will also need to submit two samples of stories or links to relevant work.
