ESO’s Communication Department (COMM) is offering an exciting internship opportunity in audiovisual communication at its offices in Vitacura, Santiago, Chile. This role is ideal for students or recent graduates interested in combining creativity with scientific outreach and engagement.
Opportunity Details
COMM comprises more than 20 staff with a range of complementary expertise ranging from astronomy, writing, image processing, video production, publishing, web production, social media and design to event organization, and it is responsible for internal and external communication aspects for the organisation. The department operates a variety of social media channels (on Facebook and Instagram) to raise awareness of ESO, astronomy and the impact of the Organisation on society at large and to build engagement with international and Chilean audiences, in English and Spanish respectively.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will produce engaging audiovisual content to support various communication activities. The audiovisual material will be aligned with ESO's social media and creative content strategies and guided by the Organisation's visual identity.

ESO's Offices in Vitacura, Santiago, with travels to the observing sites (Antofagasta and Coquimbo regions).
ESO offers a monthly allowance during the period of the internship, which will take place at the ESO's Offices in Vitacura, Santiago de Chile. The duration of the internship is 3- 6 months.

Graphic design skills to produce material for social media campaigns are highly desirable.
Qualifications:
Candidates should have a degree in communication, ideally with an emphasis on audio-visual communication or be currently studying in the field.
Language skills:
The position requires being fluent in Spanish and English, both written and oral.
Nationality
No nationality is excluded, however non-Chilean applicants must have a pertinent working permit, according to Chilean regulations, at the time of the application.
