About Global Peace Photo Award
Global Peace Photo Award 2026 is an excellent opportunity, previously known as the Alfred Fried Photography Award. This photo award recognizes and promotes photographers from all around the world. It is specifically for photographers whose work highlights the pursuit of peace, human dignity and the beauty found in efforts to create a better world.
Benefits of Global Peace Photo Award
There will be a total of € 11,000 in cash prizes to be won in all 6 categories!
The Peace Image of the Year will be honoured with a cash price of € 7,000 Sponsored by the Vienna Insurance Group.
3 winners in the Stories category will each receive €1,000
1 winner in the single picture category receives €1,000
1 Childen’s Peace Image of the Year receives €1,000
All winning works will be awarded the Alfred Fried Peace Medal and the photographers will be invited to the award ceremony in Vienna in September 2026, with travel expenses and accommodation covered. All submitted images have the chance to take part in international exhibitions.
Global Peace Photo Award Requirements
- Peace Photography Award is open to photographers from all around the world.
- The competition includes two main categories, Single Image and Photo Story.
- For the Single Image category, applicants can upload up to 99 individual photos.
- Similarly, the Story category requires a minimum of 5 photos. A story may contain up to 12 images.
- Applicants aged 15 and above must apply for the main Global Peace Photo Award category.
- If applicants are under 15 years old, they can participate in the Children’s Peace Image of the Year.
- Entries in both categories (Single and Story) must consist of photos that are no more than three years old when the call for entry opens.
- All photographs will be judged on artistic merit, originality, subject, style and content based on the theme of peace.
- A caption in English (up to 2000 characters) must be submitted with each image or story.
- Images must be uploaded as .jpg files with at least 3000 pixels on the longer side.
- Images must not contain watermarks, logos, names, or borders.
