About Gwaii Trust Society - Arts Mentorship Grant
The Haida Gwaii Arts Mentorship Grant provides financial support to artists and eligible nonprofit arts groups on Haida Gwaii for mentorship, training, and professional development opportunities. The grant supports multiple artistic disciplines and helps artists strengthen creative skills through mentor-apprentice relationships, workshops, exhibitions, publications, and equipment support.

- Maximum Funding Pool: $200,000
Gwaii Trust Society - Arts Mentorship Grant Requirements
- If you’re an artist living on Haida Gwaii for at least five consecutive years (time away at post-secondary school and/or for medical treatment is exempt),
OR
Your Group
- If you’re a non-profit arts group on Haida Gwaii or an organization with an arts mandate and its own bank account
Application Date and Process
- Applications Open (6 weeks before deadline)
- Ready to apply? Start preparing the documents you’ll need such as a brief project summary, list of individuals involved, examples of previous work, confirmation of mentorship, and any additional supporting information.
- Submit Your Application (Deadline: April 1, 2026 or September 1, 2026, by 11:59 p.m.)
- Review and Decision (Approximately 2 Months)
- The Gwaii Trust Board of Directors will review your application and make the funding decisions. You can expect to hear back within approximately two months. Please be flexible with your start date, as decisions can occasionally be delayed due to meeting schedules.
- Approval and Next Steps
- If your project is approved, review the terms, track your expenses, and wait until at least two months after the application deadline to start your project.
- Complete Your Project
- Once your project is done, submit your final budget, all receipts, and a brief project summary with photos – we’d love to share your success!
