Opportunity Details
IJURR Foundation Writing-Up Grants 2026 is a funding opportunity designed to help PhD students from low- and middle-income countries who are in the final stage of their doctoral studies in urban and regional research. The grant supports them financially while they are writing their dissertations, after completing fieldwork.
Value: Up to £6,000.
Uses: University fees, accommodation, or research equipment.
Trustees may increase the amount in cases of hardship.
Does not cover full living/study costs—additional funding is expected.
Must be a PhD student in urban/regional studies.
Must hold nationality from a low- or middle-income country (per World Bank classification).
Priority for applicants who completed prior degrees in low- or middle-income countries.
Must have finished fieldwork and begun dissertation writing.
Planned dissertation submission ideally within 6 months of award (from April 2026).
Previous IJURR studentship recipients are not eligible.
Late applications will not be considered under any circumstances and no correspondence will be entered into. Applications cannot be individually acknowledged due to the volume received but successful applicants will be informed by the end of April 2025.
