About KIT - International Affairs/Internationales - SCHROFF Foundation Fellowships
SCHROFF Foundation Fellowships 2026 offer an outstanding opportunity for internationally recognized researchers to collaborate with leading scientists at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in Germany. Supported by the SCHROFF Foundation, this prestigious fellowship aims to honor exceptional scholars whose research contributes to scientific progress and helps address major global challenges across different disciplines.
Through this program, selected fellows are invited to conduct a collaborative research project at KIT for up to six months with a host institute. The fellowship encourages interdisciplinary cooperation, strengthens international research networks, and supports innovative studies that create meaningful scientific and societal impact while deepening academic collaboration with KIT’s research community.

- During the research stay at KIT, a subsistence allowance is given to cover living expenses.

- A postdoctoral researcher from the awardee’s research group may be supported by an additional research grant for a maximum of one year.
KIT - International Affairs/Internationales - SCHROFF Foundation Fellowships Requirements
- Must be a scientist or researcher with international recognition.
- Should have significant scientific accomplishments that affect the entire world.
- Major societal issues or future-focused subjects should be the focus of research.
- Must collaborate with a Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) host institution.
- A scientist linked with KIT is required to submit the submission.
Required Documents
- Completed nomination form with the required details.
- Personal statement from the nominator, including a scientific appraisal and laudation (maximum 3 pages).
- Invitation letter from the host institute along with a description of the proposed research project (maximum 3 pages).
- Curriculum Vitae (CV) of the nominated researcher.
- List of key publications, limited to a maximum of 10.
- One or two recommendation letters from internationally recognized experts in the field.
Application Date and Process
- A nomination must be submitted by a professor or executive scientist from the host institute at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). Direct self-applications are not accepted.
- The nominating scientist prepares the complete nomination package together with the required supporting documents for the candidate.
- Prepare the following required documents:
- Completed nomination form
- Personal statement or laudation by the nominator (maximum 3 pages)
- Invitation letter from the host institute at KIT with a description of the planned research project (maximum 3 pages)
- Curriculum Vitae in tabular format
- List of key publications (maximum 10)
- One or two recommendation letters from internationally recognized experts in the nominee’s field
- Ensure the nomination highlights the candidate’s scientific achievements and the relevance of the proposed research project.
- Compile all documents in electronic format.
- Submit the complete nomination package by email to [email protected] through the International Affairs Unit of KIT.
- After submission, the nominations are evaluated by the Council for Research and Young Scientists (CRYS) and the final funding decision is made by the KIT Executive Board
