About National Endowment for the Arts Grants for Arts Projects

GAP is about making the arts accessible nationwide, strengthening cultural identity, and ensuring that creative projects enrich people’s lives at every stage.

Benefits of National Endowment for the Arts Grants for Arts Projects

  • Challenge America: fixed request of $10,000.

  • Other GAP applicants: $10,000–$100,000.

  • Local Arts Agencies (subgranting projects): $30,000–$150,000.

  • Requires 1:1 cost share (cash or in-kind).

National Endowment for the Arts Grants for Arts Projects Requirements

  • Applicants must be:

    • Nonprofit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) U.S. organizations.

    • Units of state or local government.

    • Federally recognized tribal communities or tribes.

  • Must have 5+ years of arts programming and an operating budget of at least $20,000 in the previous fiscal year.

  • Individuals, fiscal sponsors, for-profit enterprises, and state/regional arts agencies are not eligible.

  • Generally, only one application per organization per year.
