Naval STEM is currently being accepted for the Science and Engineering Apprenticeship Program (SEAP) 2026. Interested applicants are encouraged to click here to learn more about this opportunity and apply for it.
The Science and Engineering Apprenticeship Program (SEAP) places high school students in Department of Navy (DON) laboratories where they will take part in real Naval research for eight weeks during the summer.
SEAP gives academically talented high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors interested in STEM the opportunity to learn about Naval research and technology while receiving first-class mentoring from top scientists and engineers. Many SEAP interns go on to careers within the DON.
SEAP is a competitive program limited to about 300 placements across 38 laboratories in the country. Interns are selected based on academic achievement, personal statements, recommendations, and career and research interests.
The SEAP internship has a duration of eight weeks (with a possible extension up to two additional weeks). Stipend levels are determined by new and returning SEAP students and will be paid bi-weekly via direct deposit.
