About New York City Economic Development Corporation Founder Fellowship
The Founder Fellowship is an accelerator program designed to improve access to capital and networks for underrepresented founders across all tech-enabled sectors. As a signature program of NYCEDC's Venture for NYC (formally known as Venture Access NYC) initiative, the Fellowship connects diverse founders and funders with the capital, networks, and resources they need to launch, grow, and thrive in NYC. Venture for NYC is a suite of bold programs designed to make NYC the world’s leading and most inclusive innovation ecosystem.

Selected teams are placed in Founder Fellow cohorts led by NYCEDC's program operators. All Fellow teams receive unique offerings including:

New York City Economic Development Corporation Founder Fellowship Requirements
While the 2027 application details may vary slightly by program partner, the published requirements across NYCEDC Founder Fellowship cohorts include:
- At least one founder must live in one of New York City's five boroughs.
- The startup must be a technology or tech-enabled business based in NYC.
- The program focuses on underrepresented and historically marginalized founders.
- Founders should be building high-growth startups and seeking access to capital, mentorship, and investor networks.
- Some cohorts specifically target companies in sectors such as climate, energy, workforce, health, and deep tech.
- Participants must be able to commit time to the fellowship programming, which is generally delivered in a hybrid (virtual and in-person NYC) format
