The OAR Applied Research Competition is designed to support innovative research that advances practical solutions for autistic individuals and their families. This program encourages studies that generate evidence to inform interventions, policies, and practices across the lifespan.
Funding Amount: Up to USD 50,000 per project
Number of Awards: Up to 9 grants
Project Duration: 1–2 years
Funding Start Date: On or after January 1, 2027
Eligible Applicants: Researchers affiliated with recognized academic or research institutions; at least one team member must hold a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent
Early-career and established researchers
International applicants affiliated with recognized institutions
Teams with at least one qualified investigator
Projects aligning with OAR’s mission to improve quality of life and support evidence-based interventions
Prepare Letter of Intent (LOI): Maximum of two pages including:
Study concept and significance
Approach and innovation
Investigator qualifications
Practical relevance and anticipated impact
Submit LOI via OAR Online Portal
Include references and biosketches of team members
LOI Deadline: March 16, 2026
LOI Review: Results shared in mid-May 2026
Full Proposal Submission: Invited applicants submit full proposals by July 13, 2026
Scientific and Board Review: Conducted in October 2026
Final Award Notification: December 2026
