About RIA Charlemont Grant Programme

The Royal Irish Academy (RIA) Charlemont Grant is a travel grant awarded to outstanding early career researchers working in the humanities, social sciences, or sciences.

Benefits of RIA Charlemont Grant Programme

• Grants between €1,500–€3,000.
• Up to €500 for small items (software, photocopying).
• Eligible costs: travel, subsistence, accommodation, project planning, research assistance (excluding salaries).

RIA Charlemont Grant Programme Requirements

The programme is open to early career researchers living and working in Ireland, including researchers based in Northern Ireland.

Applicants must:

• Have passed their PhD viva.
• Have received their PhD on or after 10 February 2020.
• Be living and working in Ireland, including Northern Ireland.

The programme also provides eligibility extensions in certain circumstances.
