About Schlumberger Foundation Fully Funded PhD & Post-Doc Fellowships for Women
This prestigious fellowship is designed specifically to support women from low- and middle-income economies where STEM disciplines are underrepresented. By providing up to $50,000 per year for PhD studies and $40,000 for post-doctoral research, the Schlumberger Foundation empowers female scholars to excel abroad and return home as leaders in their fields. If you are selected for the Faculty for the Future Fellowship, your grant will be based on actual expenses incurred, covering:
- Up to $50,000 per year for PhD courses
- Up to $40,000 per year for Post-Doctoral research programs
- Full coverage of university tuition and bench fees
- Accommodation costs and living allowances (food, books, supplies, transport)
- Medical insurance, conference expenses, and initial travel/visa charges
- An exceptional child care grant of up to $10,000 per year for eligible children (max $3,000/child under 6, and max $1,500/child aged 6–15)
Schlumberger Foundation Fully Funded PhD & Post-Doc Fellowships for Women Requirements
To be eligible for the Faculty for the Future Fellowship, you must meet all of the following requirements:
- Must be female.
- Must be a citizen of an eligible low- or middle-income country where women are underrepresented in STEM.
- You are not eligible if you hold dual citizenship of which one is a developed country.
- Must be preparing for a PhD degree or post-doctoral research in a STEM discipline (Master’s programs are not funded).
- Must be enrolled, admitted, or have applied to a well-ranked host university/research institute abroad.
- If applying for a sandwich course, the final degree must be awarded by the Host University abroad.
- Must hold an excellent academic record.
- Must have a proven record of teaching experience in your home country.
- Must demonstrate your commitment to returning home to take up an academic/research position, become a STEM entrepreneur, or work in STEM policy-making.
- Must demonstrate leadership skills, active community outreach, and a track record in encouraging young people, particularly girls and women, into STEM.
Application Date and Process
When preparing your application, you will need to gather the following documents and materials:
- Completed application form detailing academic performance.
- Personal Essay outlining leadership skills and intent to return to your home country.
- Research Proposal Statement highlighting the relevance of your research to your home country.
- Proof of enrollment, admission, or application to the host university.
- Mandatory reference letter from your host university supervisor, alongside additional quality references.
- Budget estimate and financial info (and proof of child-care costs if requesting the child care grant).

- Secure admission or submit a formal application to an eligible, highly ranked host university abroad.
- Visit the online system which will open on 1st September 2026.
- Create a new account or recover your password if you have applied previously.
- Carefully complete all sections, particularly the Personal Essay and Research Proposal Statement (these are the most common reasons for rejection).
- Submit your application before the closing date on 7th November 2026.
