The Coastal Infrastructure Grant Fund supports communities affected by the recent algal bloom across South Australia. As part of the State and Federal governments’ $102.5 million Summer Plan, the fund strengthens coastal resilience, protects public spaces, and enables community-driven restoration projects.
Grant amount: Up to $50,000
Total pool: $1 million
Co-contribution: Required for councils and landscape boards (dollar-for-dollar)
Eligible project types: Once-off initiatives with clear community benefit
Administration: Department of the Premier and Cabinet
Funding nature: Voluntary State Government payment with applicable terms and conditions
Eligible applicants must:
Be legally established in Australia
Have an active ABN
Operate within one of the designated 29 coastal council areas
Be a South Australian entity (unless a State Government agency)
Deliver projects with a direct benefit to impacted coastal communities
Eligible entities include:
Community groups
Not-for-profit organisations
Local councils
Landscape boards
Coastal management associations
Sporting and recreation clubs
Industry associations
Not eligible:
Organisations on the National Redress Scheme’s list of non-participating institutions
Entities unable to demonstrate locally focused coastal benefits

Define Your Project
Outline the problem, proposed infrastructure solution, community benefit, and alignment with coastal recovery needs.
Prepare Documentation
Include governance information, project plan, budget estimates, and evidence of co-contribution (if required).
Submit the Application
Apply through the Department of the Premier and Cabinet’s designated portal or submission process.
Await Assessment
Applications are assessed on eligibility, impact, feasibility, and community benefit.
Funding Agreement
Successful applicants enter a grant agreement outlining conditions and reporting responsibilities.
