The Southern Education Foundation (SEF) Research Fellows program supports early- to mid-career scholars who are committed to advancing education justice and opportunity across the South. Through applied research, collaboration, and support, Fellows contribute to building a more just and inclusive education system for all students, particularly those from historically marginalized communities.

Doctoral candidates (ABD) or postdoctoral researchers in education, public policy, economics, sociology, or related fields.
Early- to mid-career researchers in academia, nonprofits, or policy organizations.
Scholars with a demonstrated commitment to improving educational outcomes in the South.
Applicants from HBCUs and Minority-Serving Institutions (MSIs) are strongly encouraged.
